Power take-offs are mechanical components, usually a box (in aluminium or cast iron) containing certain gears that extract/divert torque from the engine or transmission of a vehicle to mechanically (by means of drive shafts) or hydraulically (by activating pumps for the management of hydraulic systems) operate equipment mounted on the frames of the vehicles (waste collection vehicles, firefighting vehicles, crane vehicles, etc.).

Interpump’s global leadership position in the power take-off sector is the result of a Group strategy to bring together some of the top international players: the Italian companies Hydrocar and PZB – now incorporated into Interpump Hydraulics – and the American company Muncie Power Products. Thanks to this process, the Group now offers a vast selection of products, ranging from rear and side-mount to total and sandwich PTOs, which can be installed on almost all industrial vehicles in the world.

Hydraulic cylinders are one of the most common components of hydraulic systems; they come in various types and sizes and can be used in a wide range of applications. For example, front-end and underbody cylinders are mainly used for industrial vehicles in the construction sector, dual-action telescopic cylinders are used for waste collection vehicles, while other types of cylinders are used in the drilling, mobile crane, marine, earthmoving and agricultural sectors, in cranes and industrial automation. The Group first entered the segment in 2008 with the acquisition of the Italian companies Contarini, Modenflex, Cover and Panni Oleodinamica, and HS Penta, all operating with different specialisations in the sector of hydraulic cylinders and related components. In the following years, the Group focused on consolidating and strengthening the businesses acquired, before taking a further step forward in 2019 with the acquisition of the Canadian company Hydra Dyne Tech, with specific expertise in rotary joints.

In the Hydraulics sector, the Interpump Group as a whole offers components for the creation of complete systems with mobile applications in mind. The “Valves & DCVs” division makes a significant contribution in this regard.
The division offers a product range including directional control valves (DCVs), hydraulic pumps and motors, compact hydraulics, electronics, orbital motors and electro-hydraulic steering systems, together with customised solutions and systems studied in co-design with the top machine manufacturers in the world.
Products, systems and solutions in which electronics play an increasingly central role, ensuring attention to safety, comfort and efficiency, with a particular focus on sustainability and the latest technologies in use in the various application sectors.

Hydraulic circuits are made up of a series of systems and components for the generation, control, transport and transformation of energy. Regardless of its technological sophistication and manufacturing complexity, each component represents a fundamental and essential part of the circuit. The Group entered the hoses, pipes and fittings sector in 2013 with the acquisition of IMM Hydraulics, specialised in the production of hydraulic rubber hoses and fittings. In 2016, it took two steps forward with the companies Tubiflex and Tekno Tubi. The former manufactures and markets flexible metal and composite hoses, metal expansion joints, metal bellows, corrugated hoses for heat exchangers, and special products for the transport of fluids in the industrial, aerospace, automotive and naval sectors. The latter deals with the shaping and assembly of rigid steel and aluminium pipes, as well as in the joining of flexible rubber hoses for the hydraulic and automotive sectors. The last major development was in 2017 and concerned the acquisition of the international activities of Finnish group GS-Hydro, world leader in the design and construction of piping systems in the oil & gas, industrial and naval sectors, thanks to the development of a technology that allows the flange-based assembly of pipes that does not require welding. In addition to having a lower environmental impact, this innovation guarantees superior technical characteristics and simple installation, making it particularly suitable for use under continuous or extreme conditions.

Reduction gears are mechanical components used to operate different types of mobile, industrial and domestic appliances, which require the rotation speed of the motor to be reduced safely and efficiently, while increasing the torque. Despite their simplicity, reduction gears offer a transmission system available in countless different configurations, depending on the needs and specifications of each application.
The numerous fields of application range all the way from logistics to agriculture, heavy industry, food processing, animal breeding, the circular economy and even mining.
When Interpump first entered the sector in 2019-2020 with the acquisition of di Reggiana Riduttori and Transtecno, the Group’s activities in the transmission sector radically expanded. The subsequent acquisitions of DZ Trasmissioni, Berma and Draintech have made it possible to further expand the Group’s product range in this business.

Over the years, the Hydraulics division of the Interpump Group has gradually expanded the range of products offered to customers, while maintaining high standards of innovation and quality.
In this field, it now proposes gear and plunger piston pumps for use in hydraulic circuits that require high working pressures at low or high rpm.

The Group has further strengthened its presence in the Hydraulics sector thanks to Hydroven, which, through the design and production of hydraulic power packs and complete systems, offers the market advanced technological solutions.

With the acquisition of American Mobile Power, one of the top manufacturers of hydraulic tanks for industrial vehicles in the US, the Group strengthened its position in the hydraulics sector, expanding its offer with products that are highly synergistic with those of its US subsidiary Muncie.

Interpump was born as a manufacturer of high-pressure piston pumps and introduced a radical innovation to the market, which quickly became the new technological standard of reference: the use of ceramic pistons instead of steel ones. This new material improved the efficiency, performance and reliability of pumps and in just a few years the Group became the world market leader. A position it continues to strengthen thanks to the constant spirit of improvement that has characterised the Group since its inception, its focus on product quality, its development of outstanding skills, its ongoing investments in technology and its ability to satisfy specific customer needs. Over the years, the product range has expanded to include increasingly higher levels of power and pressure, thanks to the acquisition, in the early 1990s, of Pratissoli Pompe, an Italian company and world leader in the production of piston pumps for the steel, chemical and petrochemical, construction and water treatment industries. Its range of triplex pumps – i.e., with three pumping pistons – offers more than 60 models with flow rates that can exceed 2,600 l/m, pressure up to 1,600 bar, and power up to 1,200 HP, all designed and produced to provide maximum efficiency in heavy-duty and continuous applications. 1998 was an important year in the Group’s commercial development with the acquisition of General Pump, now a top distributor of high-pressure piston pumps, accessories and spare parts in the United States. Between 2005 and 2007, the Group’s leadership in the sector was further strengthened through the acquisition of German company Hammelman and American company NLB Corporation. The former is considered a global leader in ultra-high-pressure fluid pumping technology – up to 4,000 bar – and the supply of custom-made ultra-high-pressure systems. NLB Corporation is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and renters of high-pressure water-jetting machines – 140 to 2,800 bar – mounted on trailers. In 2015, expansion continued with the acquisition of InoxiHip, an Italian company operating in the sector of high and ultra-high pressure water systems, specialised in applications for the steel and mining industries and for large plants.

Piston pumps are used in many industrial activities. For this reason, with a view to further growth and development opportunities, the Group decided to focus its attention on application sectors in which piston pumps are a fundamental production component. The first step in this direction was the 2015 acquisition of the company Bertoli, a manufacturer of high-pressure homogenizers for the food industry. Two years later, Spanish company Inoxpa joined the Group, along with the Italian company Mariotti & Pecini, acquisitions aimed at consolidating presence in the valve, tank, mixer and agitator sectors. Subsequently, Bertoli and Mariotti & Pecini were integrated into the parent company as recognised commercial brands. In 2020, expansion in the sector continued with the acquisition of Italian companies Servizi Industriali, specialised in separation and clarification systems, and I.Mec, focused on the production of mechanical screens, and finally the New Zealand company Waikato, manufacturer of automated milking systems.
